The Negro League Autograph Guide is a well-thought out, very nicely written guide to the Negro leagues, it players, and their autographs. Written by Kevin Keating and Michael Kolleth, this definitive resource is the first of its kind. The authors spent three years gathering and cataloging autgraph samples by seaching the archives of the Baseball Hall of Fame, historical societies, public collections, museums, and private collections. Their findings show up here in the form of multiple signature samples from such heroes as Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Rube Foster, Roy Campanella and nearly 200 other stars who played in various Negro leagues between 1885 and the early 1960s.In addition to the 200 or so stars that are examined in detail, autograph samples of 350 players are offered as well as autographs from executives, umpires and luminaries. The guide also provides a history of the Negro leagues, various top player lists, and a discussion of which players belong in the Hall of Fame. There is sage advice offered regarding collecting and detailed information regarding the detections of forgeries.
