"400 Trademarks on Glass" was first published in 1968 by Dr. Arthur G. Peterson. Intended at first to be an article for HOBBIES magazine, the article soon grew into a book which has been a helpful reference ever since. Based on information from the Patent Office and The Library of Congress, each mark is illustrated. The name of the registrant and address and the intended use of the mark is provided.
From the Foreword -
"Many people have the idea that trademarks on glass have been few and far between. Consequently, it probably will be a pleasant surprise to learn that over 200 companies in the United States have used 400 or more trademarks o blown, pressed, but and engraved glass.
This definitive text Will be of lasting interest and value to students of glassware. Glass collectors and dealers are fortunate that the necessary coincidences occurred to bring about such a document in this century rather than later. It required someone living near the Patent Office and the Library of Congress who had the time and ability as well as the motivation to undertake and complete a semi-charitable task.
Dr. Peterson has made a thorough and scholarly study of trademarks on glass and has summarized the information in concise and convenient form. Replicas of the original trademarks, from Patent Office records, are accompanied by the name and address of the owner, year of first use, and other information."
