James Measell's and Berry Wiggins' Great American Glass of The Roaring 20s & Depression Era Volumes 1 and 2 focuses on the glass manufacturers of the 1920s and 1930s without regard to the tradition distinctions between elegant and depression glass. The result is a wonderful presentation of the history of over 30 glass manufacturers and their wares. By click on the Table of Contents image above you can see the names of the companies reviewed. These include the familiar companies such as Cambridge, McKee, Fenton, H. Northwood., Westmoreland, and Fostoria, as well as less known companies such as Bonita Art Glass, Economy Glass Co., and Monogah Glass Co. The well-written narrative is illustrated with glass works photos, and advertising and other marketing excerpts. The colored plates are exceptional. This book will be extremely helpful in identifying glass that does not fit into the patterns and categories established by other glass historians. Great American Glass of The Roaring 20s and Depression Era will be an oft-referenced book on any glass dealers shelf.
