Viewing A Guide to Collecting Fenton Glass is a pleasure for both the novice and the advanced Fenton collector. Set primary in the factory vault, William Heacock presents a representative sample of Fenton's entire production. Many of the pieces shown are rare, limited production pieces that command the most in todays markets. The presentation is superb. Video technology is far superior to still photography in presenting the dimensions and features of a piece. It is second to only handling the piece itself.
Mr. Heacocks, the immeninent Fenton glass scholar until his life was cut prematurely short in the late 1980s, describes the patterns, colors and shapes of importance to both the company and collectors and infuses his descriptions with the history and technology related to each. Some of the patterns discussed are Beaded Stars, Dragon & Lotus, Buttons & Braids, Blackberry, Plymouth, Cameo Opalescent, Lincoln Inn, Blue Ridge Line, Cranberry Opalescence, Barcelona, Hobnail, Coin Dot, Cactus, Zig Zag, Comet & Stars, Peacock Garden, the crests such as Aqua, Ebony, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Rose, Apple Blossom, and Flame, Hanging Heart, Burmese, Adventureen, and Ten Mums.
